Brothers and sisters,

What a day. Day 3 of negotiations is in the book, and we’re heading into tomorrow fired up and focused. First and foremost, we want to extend a huge thank you to everyone who showed out for the solidarity walk back at the home base. Seeing that sea of red shirts out there gave us a surge of energy and reminded us exactly who we’re here fighting for. Your unity and strength were felt at the bargaining table today, and truly powered us through a long, hard-fought battle of back and forth with the company.

While we haven’t yet moved into economic proposals, today was all about digging deep into the details of the non-economic side. We’re pushing to lock in strong tentative agreements on these items so we can shift focus to the issues that hit your paycheck and benefits next.

Our team has been relentless, especially Mike Grant and Fredy Rosato, who’ve been leading the charge on health and safety, making sure the company hears and addresses our concerns. Thanks to their persistence and your backing, we’re starting to see real movement.

Here’s a quick rundown of the language changes currently on the table:

  • Adding new qualifying relatives for bereavement
  • Allowing intermittent FMLA users to qualify for holiday pay
  • Accruing lost time for missed scheduled overtime
  • Removing the 2 minute 59 second grace period at the end of the shift
  • Guaranteeing 15-minute breaks for all schedules

It’s been a tough day of bargaining, but your solidarity is our strength. We’re holding the line and keeping the pressure on.

Stay tuned — we expect more progress tomorrow and are hopeful we’ll reach some major non-economic TAs that will help us move forward toward the big issues.

In solidarity,

Your Local 1821 Bargaining Team
