Your Union Is the Answer

UAW Local 848's Membership Meetings are 2nd Sundays at 2PM at 2218 E Main in Grand Prairie. All members and retirees, and their families, are invited. Leadership is required to attend. Virtually everything the union does is approved at Membership Meetings, and our decisions affect everybody. It's democracy in its simplest and strongest form. Make the effort to attend and participate fully!

We are also desperately trying to maintain our retiree program. Like many UAW locals, the retiree program mandated in the UAW constitution has had difficulty with turnout. Retirees die off, they move far away, and they lose interest. Since May, 2025, the best we could do was to provide an on-line meeting for all retirees no matter how far away they live. If retirees begin responding, we will re-establish meetings In Real Life.

Union members and retirees, and their families, have all kinds of political outlooks. One fact, though, is unavoidably true: individuals can do very little to change anything. That's why the union's political program is so vital to our lives. Please get involved and make a difference. Union members and retirees can do a lot more than just complain; we can actually change things by working together!
