Thanks go out to the UAW Local 3520 Women’s Committee for organizing an outstanding educational event "Let’s Talk About it..... Prostate Cancer."

A special thanks to Marvin Bey, Darren Carr, and all the speakers who made this day possible. It was a great event at Local 3520—informative, impactful, and something we hope to build on with more events in the future.

Understanding Prostate Cancer

Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers among men, especially as they get older. The prostate is a small gland that helps make semen, and cancer develops when cells there begin to grow abnormally.

Signs to Watch For

  • Trouble starting or stopping urination
  • Weak urine flow or frequent nighttime trips to the bathroom
  • Blood in urine or semen
  • Ongoing back, hip, or chest pain
  • In some cases, no symptoms at all

Treatment Options

Prostate cancer often grows slowly, and some men may only need regular check-ups. Others may require surgery, radiation, hormone therapy, or newer treatments such as immunotherapy. Early detection gives the best chance for successful treatment and long-term health.
