In an effort to improve communication, the Local is rolling out a mass text service (from EZ Text) on Tuesday, January 16, 2024.  This will be a service you will need to opt in to if you wish to receive texts from Local 276.  Instructions will be posted on the website, on the app, and in the plant to let you know how to sign up.

DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. PARADE:
The Grand Prairie 2024 MLK Parade is on January 15, 2024, beginning at 10:00 AM at City Hall (300 W. Main Street).  The Civil & Human Rights Committee asks that members meet at the Union Hall first (meeting time TBD).

SAP SURVEY INFORMATION FROM UAW VICE PRESIDENT MIKE BOOTH:

“As part of the 2023 National Negotiations, the UAW leadership and management agreed to conduct a survey in December to enable Traditional Employees to express interest in participating in a Special Attrition Program (SAP). The SAP survey is intended to capture eligible employees’ interest in the program and preferred timing. The potential timeframes are: A: 1st half of 2024 (January - June 2024); B: 2nd half of 2024 (July – December 2024); C: 2025; D: 2026; E: 2027.

“This initial survey is not binding, but it will allow General Motors to collect the employee’s interest and preferred timing of separation. Expressing interest now does not guarantee participation. An official process will be communicated at a later date.

“To support the process and ease, Union Benefit Representatives (UBR’s), Group Leaders, Local HR and People Services have been granted access in Workday to express interest on behalf of eligible employees and assist eligible employees.

The Survey will be available until 11:59 pm, Monday, January 8, 2024. Only interested employees need to complete the survey. Those that express interest can also modify their responses up until the survey close date; their latest submission will be considered."

SPECIAL NOTE ABOUT THE HOLIDAYS

With the holiday season quickly approaching, I wanted to take a minute to wish each of you and your families a safe and happy holiday season from myself and the UAW Local 276 leadership.

Although the holidays bring us much joy, this time of year can also be very stressful for others, causing an increase in self-destructive behaviors such as drinking, drug usage, gambling and unfortunately suicide.  Please remember and be mindful that our co-workers may be struggling and coping with depression and mental health challenges brought on by the stress of the season.

Please utilize your EAP Representatives as needed.
