GM Short Work Week (SWW) Explanation

SWW Weather 7A

Unplanned downtime due to absenteeism driven by severe weather. Overtime offered to the employee during the week does not reduce the SWW pay calculation for eligible employees.

Examples:

  • Flooding, Snowstorm, Tornado, etc.
  • City or State declares State of Emergency
  • Mgmt. cancels operations due to pending or existing severe weather.


Kronos Codes:

  • Short Work Week coded Weather – 7A for regular employees with greater than 1 year seniority.
  • Short Work Week coded Temp EE for Temporary Employees and Seniority employees with less than 1 year seniority are not Eligible for SWW Pay as it is a Benefit.

Why Does Overtime Offered matter?

  • The concept of the SWW Benefit provides that 40 hours of work will be made available to each employee.
  • Therefore, overtime offered to an employee, whether worked or refused, is still considered hours that were made available to them.
  • Overtime offered (worked or refused) may reduce SWW pay, with the exception of a Severe Weather SWW Event.
  • Overtime Worked or refused PRIOR to the SWW event reduces the SWW benefit pay.
