Greetings:
This letter is to UAW Local 276 members in good standing, those that are delinquent and non-members. UAW members pay dues every month to help support their Union. 0.29% or 0.5 hours of your dues dollars goes to the International Union Strike and Defense Fund. You can refer to Article 16 of the UAW Constitution for more information about dues. This is a contract year; the UAW-GM contract expires on September 14, 2023, at 11:59 PM (Eastern Standard Time). We do not know if we will strike but if we do strike we want our members to be informed.
First, I would like to thank all members of UAW Local 276 for your continuous good standing. Please, if you have not yet updated your contact information (address and telephone number) at the Union Hall, please make sure to do so. The Union Hall is open from 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM Monday through Friday.
Second, if you are a non-member, we ask that you become a UAW Local 276 member. You will need to sign a membership card and pay a $20.00 initiation fee. If you have withdrawn from the union during your time at General Motors, you will need to sign a membership card and pay a $20.00 reinstatement fee and one month of dues. If you are unsure of your membership status, contact the Union Hall at (972) 647-1282.
If you are not a UAW member, you will not receive strike assistance benefits through the UAW and other benefits afforded to UAW Local 276 members. Also, if you sign a membership card after the strike begins, you will first check of strike benefits will be delayed.
Last, delinquent members, please pay any outstanding balance.
