PRESIDENT’S REPORT
JULY 2026
2026 UAW INTERNATIONAL OFFICER ELECTION
Brothers, Sisters, and Siblings, I want to make sure every member of Local 276 has the information needed to participate fully in this year's International Officer Election. This is one of the most important responsibilities we have as members of this union — electing our International leadership — and I encourage everyone to stay informed and to vote.
OFFICES ON THE BALLOT
The 2026 Election will fill the offices of International President, International Secretary-Treasurer, three International Vice Presidents, and nine Regional Director positions. As before, this election is being conducted by secret mail-in ballot, and it is being administered by the Court-appointed Monitor pursuant to the federal Consent Decree governing our union.
KEY DATES
Ballots mail out: on or about August 21, 2026
Eligibility cutoff: members in good standing as of September 30, 2026 — this includes part-time workers, reinstated members, and retired members
Ballots due: must be received by closing time at the designated U.S. Post Office by October 5, 2026, to be counted
CANDIDATE FORUMS
The Monitor has scheduled voluntary Candidate Forums for members to hear directly from candidates for International Secretary-Treasurer, International Vice President, and International President. All forums begin at 6:00 PM ET and will be livestreamed on Zoom and YouTube:
Thursday, July 23 — International Secretary-Treasurer Candidate Forum
Monday, July 27 — International Vice President Candidate Forum
Thursday, July 30 — International President Candidate Forum
Chat and comment functions will be disabled during the livestreams, but each forum will be recorded and posted afterward on the Monitor's website for members who cannot watch live. As with the 2022 and 2023 elections, veteran labor journalist Steven Greenhouse — who is independent of both the UAW and the Monitor — will moderate.
SUBMITTING QUESTIONS FOR THE FORUMS
Any member may submit a question for the moderator's consideration by emailing UAWMonitor-Election@jenner.com with the subject line “Candidate Forum Question” at least 72 hours before the relevant forum. Please indicate which candidate or forum the question concerns, whether you wish to remain anonymous, and your Local Union number if you are a member in good standing. Submission does not guarantee a question will be used — the moderator has final discretion.
