Dear Brothers and Sisters of UAW Local 276:
Contract time is upon us. On Monday, July 17, 2023, we formally sit down with General Motors and open national negotiations of the UAW-GM 2023 National Agreement. I have been fortunate enough to be unanimously elected to be part of the Top Committee to negotiate the next contract with General Motors. Although it's going to be extremely difficult to be away from my family here at Local 276, I am honored with this appointment. I will represent Local 276 to the best of my ability and make sure we have a contract that will address all of our needs and that the membership will be proud of. Although I will not physically be in the plant, I will still be monitoring the day-to-day operations and keeping in touch with the Shop Committee to handle any issues that may arise. I will also be assisting our Local Bargaining Committee with the preparations for our very own Local Agreement, as well. In my absence, Gino Clark will be the acting Shop Chairperson with full authority to make decisions with the support of the Shop Committee.
The National Agreement covers all your wages, benefits, seniority agreements, and transfer rights that affect many of us in the plant. At the bargaining table is where the gains are made for the sacrifices that we make day in and day out to build our products. With your support, we can make this a groundbreaking Agreement that we can all be proud of. We ask that you continue to keep us in your prayers as we travel to Michigan to make this happen.
