Education Corner
Who are we?! UAW!
“UAW” stands for United Automobile, Aerospace and Agricultural Implement Workers of America. The UAW represents workers in various industries, such as automotive like the Big 3, aerospace like GE, higher education, casinos covering over 10,000 gaming industry workers, and healthcare - to name only a few! Founded in 1935, the UAW has played a significant role in advocating for workers’ rights, higher wages, and im-proved working conditions through collective bargaining and strikes. It is divided into nine different regions covering over 600 locals. We are Local 276 in Region 8.
There are thousands of labor unions across the United States. Some well-known union-made products include Kraft items, Heinz Ketchup, Lipton Tea, Dawn dish soap, Tide detergent, Bounty paper towels, and beers such as Miller, Samuel Adams, Heineken, and Blue Moon.
