UAW LOCAL UNION 276
STRIKE DUTY INSTRUCTIONS

IN THE EVENT OF A STRIKE

The Local Union Strike Committee will assign your strike activity.  Participation may be picket duty, kitchen duty, drivers, or other strike-related assignment.  You must be in good standing at the time of the strike to receive benefits.

  • All members must participate in a strike activity to be eligible for Strike Assistance.
  • To qualify for your first Strike Assistance check, you must register on the day and time assigned.
  • Members should bring a smartphone or mobile device to registration.  Tablets will be available for those without smartphones.

Your Strike Assignment will be posted on the UAW 276 website (https://region8.uaw.org/uaw-local-276) beginning Friday, September 8th.  If for any reason you cannot access the website, your assignment will be available at the Union Hall, from Monday, September 11th – Friday, September 15th from 6:00 A.M. – 3:00 P.M.  It will be your responsibility to get your strike assignment.  You will not receive your check without completing your assignment.

Local Union leadership will notify the membership of the date and time of registration for strike benefits.

You will need to provide the following:

  • Picture Identification
  • Home Address
  • Social Security Number
  • Date of Birth
  • Dependent(s)’s Legal Name(s), Birthday(s), and Social Security Number(s)
  • Bank Account Number (Savings or Checking Account)
  • Routing Number
  • Current Medical Coverage Plan (Must Have Employer-Issued Insurance Card)
  • Personal Email Address

When you register for benefits, you will be issued a picket card (do not lose it!) and your Picket Captain will indicate on the card when you have completed your strike duty.  You must sign in and out when reporting for picket duty.  Your duty will also be verified by the Registration Captain during your shift.

Do not lose your picket card!  It means strike benefits to you.

Strike Assistance is taxable.  To avoid problems, keep a record of all Strike Assistance funds you receive.
